How to get removed
- Search your own name on familysearch.org and open the record that names you.
- Copy the full URL of that record page. A request without it will not be actioned — the URL is how they identify what to remove.
- Open their data privacy request form, linked from the help article above.
- State that the living person named is you, and paste the record URL.
- The details vanish from the record page as soon as it is removed and the page shows 'Record Removed'; search results take days or weeks to catch up.
- Repeat for each record — removals are per URL, not account-wide.
One of the largest publishers of indexed UK records — civil registration indexes, censuses, parish records, probate. Free and largely unauthenticated, so exposure is wide. Living people do appear.
Why you come back
This one does not re-acquire, so a completed removal holds. Most do not: the holders that buy public records re-buy them about every four months, which is why the rest of this register is re-checked rather than ticked off.
